About Me

I've always felt the calling to make art. Art has always been in my life - from childhood scribbles, to teenager drawings, to graphic design in the business and corporate world. I started to take art more seriously when I signed up for art classes with Christina Theon in 2022. I slowly overcame my doubts and fears so I could draw and paint with purpose and direction. I am now studying online through the Milan Art Institute and learning to develop my style and voice.

My twenty years of graphic design skills were transferable to the world of visual art. Contrast, composition, and colour theory apply to both practices. I love to explore values, contrast and details in graphite and charcoal. I feel like the black and white quality of the medium offers a dramatic and intense feel. I love using coloured pencils to draw fur in animals. I was intimated the first time I used a paintbrush on canvas. To me, it felt like painting on canvas was the mark of being a real artist. As I learn and become more familiar with acrylics and oil, I'm starting to enjoy painting more and more.

Most of my inspiration comes from my daily life and travels. I live in Saskatoon with my husband, Justin, and senior cat, Kitty. I enjoy practicing yoga and riding my bicycle when it's warm outside. I love to grow vegetables and herbs in the summer and keep my indoor plants alive during the cold, dark Saskatchewan winters. Justin and I like to travel during the spring and fall to explore cooler climates such as Canada and Norway. We love to explore destinations with lots of trees, waterfalls, and hiking. I love to visit museums and art galleries wherever I go.

Art is my passion and purpose in life. Lots of heart, soul, care and attention goes into what I create. I hope you love and enjoy my art too.
